Ephesians 3:17-19
so that Christ may dwell in your hearts through faith. And I pray that you, being rooted and established in love, 18 may have power, together with all the Lord’s holy people, to grasp how wide and long and high and deep is the love of Christ, 19 and to know this love that surpasses knowledge—that you may be filled to the measure of all the fullness of God.
My kids and I would invent various ways to say I love you! First it was I love you “this much”. Of course you had to spread your arms as wide as possible….to show how much this much was. Next came I love you forever…and I like you for always. This we got from a book by the same name. It was especially appropriate during teenage years…when you may still love them, but not necessarily like what they do. Finally, we have moved to I love you to the moon and back. Each person saying it has to add a clause that makes them love the most or longest.
These love you games bring a smile to my lips. I was reading this passage and I had to chuckle that God is the best at this outdoing love game. HIs love is infinite and spans all types of circumstances. What an incredible blessing! What a refuge to cling to! What a privledge to be this thoroughly loved!
I think as a person with several disabilities I sometimes feel unloveable. I know that my hubby loves me and my dis love me…but it goes beyond that. I feel like I have to win others over to show that it is worth being my friend. Sometimes this gets overwhelming and I start to feel really down. This passage puts it all right back into perspective! I am loved beyond words and way beyond the moon and back! God’s love will never disappoint me. As a child of his the love pouring out to me is endless! I just have to reach out and acknowledge that it is there.
It is my prayer that you know how much God loves you in spite of all the baggage you may bring to the relationship. As long as you have professed that Jesus Christ is your Lord and Savior you have an endless surplus of love pouring down on you from our Heavenly Father. If you do not know Jesus Christ as your personal savior…it is not to late. Simply surrender your life to Jesus and he will do the rest!
