More on Paul

II Corinthians 12:9

But he said to me, “My grace is sufficient for you, for my power is made perfect in weakness.” Therefore I will boast all the more gladly about my weaknesses, so that Christ’s power may rest on me.

We talked about Paul and the thorn in his flesh. This week I wanted to look at one verse in particular. This is God’s response to Paul. God not only reassures Paul that his grace is sufficient for him, but more importantly God says that His power is made perfect in weakness! Amen! Time to do a happy dance! Our weakness makes God’s power perfect!

How many times do you think about what you cannot do? How many times do you feel “less than” others? How many times do you think about what you cannot do instead of thinking about what you can do? Normally, I would tell you to quit thinking negatively and look at all the blessings in your life. However, if you want to focus on the weakness….remember that God’s grace is sufficient and His power is made perfect through your weakness. What am amazing revelation!

Some days I am really down on myself. I am going to take this verse and keep telling myself that if I want to continue to think about what I cannot do….I need to also remember what God does with our shortcomings! He is magnified. He knew that we would get stuck on the negative and he said…Sure….but remember that my power is made perfect! Clearly this is Theresa’s take on this verse, but it is such an exciting message.

It is my prayer that when you are feeling down that you start to focus on the positive and one way to do this is to memorize this verse. Take it with you no matter where you go. God loves you beyond belief and He is willing to show you in amazing ways!
